Ivar Recycling Office

Giving waste new life

On the project to design new office premises for IVAR IKS’s managing director, the goal was to create something new with something used while inspiring and teaching the citizens of the Stavanger Region more about waste sorting and recycling.

The project had to involve a much lower environmental impact than if the office had been designed with entirely new furniture. An important project value was to inspire others by showing that it is possible to create attractive and high-quality office spaces with recycled materials. It had to work well for smaller work meetings, confidential conversations, be bright, airy and green, as well as offer a practical and ergonomic workplace.

A climate report provided by IVAR and NIRAS Norway was produced for the project. The work is based on emissions data obtained from the Ecoinvent database for life cycle assessments, third-party certified environmental product declarations (EPDs) and technical literature. The result shows that the project has saved the environment 544 kg of CO2 – equivalent to ten flights for one passenger between Stavanger and Oslo.
