Alssund Kollegiet

The community in focus

The student accommodation of the future in Sønderborg Havn has the community in focus without the individual home losing its attractiveness, functionality and sensuousness. Alssund Kollegiet is designed to be an active and sustainable building that gives residents practical motivation to reduce their CO2 footprint. Sustainable solutions and a climate neutral future are at the heart of the design.

Alssund Kollegiet offers a framework for diversity and community through accommodation that is both youthful and flexible. The student rooms possess raw yet sensuous aesthetics that can be influenced by the individual resident, who can create a homely, restful setting for everyday life. The common areas are the main attraction of the building, and the functions for shared activity [A1] form a cohesive “common staircase” of spaciousness and terraces that permeate the corner of the building.

Sustainable construction
The student hall will be the first building in Southern Jutland constructed according to 2020 energy standards and with silver DGNB certification for sustainable construction. Amongst other aspects, DGNB assessment measures the materials’ life cycles, transport, energy and water consumption during and after the construction, together with durability, accessibility and indoor climate. The environment, finances and social conditions are weighted equally in the certification, and the technical and process quality are analysed.
