NTNU Faculty of Health and Social Science

The students' vivid living room

By locating NTNU Faculty of Health and Social Sciences together with the students' sports facilities, both will have added value. A combined teaching and sports building with a mixture of teaching, social meeting places, and training offers will help create an attractive, inspiring, and vibrant campus.

The building will be located at the entrances to St. Olav on Øya and will be strategically located between other subject areas in NTNU's campus. New NTNU and SiT Idrett will house 2,000 fitness-loving students and be a workplace for 250 employees.

In its justification, the evaluation committee writes: “The building is considered to have a good aesthetic and architectural expression. The sports section is exposed to the east and north with many activities on the first two floors. These floors are also very well connected and can be perceived as a unit, one of the building's great qualities. The main floor with foyer and reception and dining and assembly room as well as an inviting open staircase with seating areas up to a translucent 2nd floor, is particularly convincing. There is a good interplay between the functions in the building, with good social meeting places on the first and second floors. The solution gives the building an open, inviting, and lively feel. "
